Barrs Court School (BCS) delivers specialist provision for young people aged 11-19 all of whom have a range complex learning difficulties and disabilities. At Barrs Court we offer a unique and individualised education for our pupils, enabling all to succeed personally, academically and socially. In October 2019 we were rated our fourth consecutive ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.

All the staff team are caring and together we make a strong, dedicated team where every child and young person is treated with the proper respect to ensure that their rights, needs and aspirations, personal preferences and pathways remain central to the schools organisation. We also want our pupils to be empowered and to benefit from a meaningful and rewarding adulthood.

The successful applicant will be joining our Trust at an exciting phase of development as we work in collaboration with the DfE and Herefordshire Council to build a new college, The Beacon College.  The college will cater for pupils with a range of specialist needs, with up to 60 pupils, aged from 16 to 19, with severe and complex learning difficulties, including autism.

  • Raising attainment and improving student progress
  • Leading teaching and learning improvement through effective subject leadership
  • Curriculum design, planning and implementation including timetabling

Barrs Court School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Barrs Court School is a school for pupils aged 11 to 19 with severe, complex, profound and multiple learning difficulties and disabilities, including Autism. We are seeking to appoint enthusiastic, passionate and creative teachers who can demonstrate a genuine committment to the education of children and young people who have a broad range of learning difficulties and disabilities.  You will be joining a supportive team of professionals who strive to provide outstanding education and care.
