Some people with disabilities may need help when using public transport. In Herefordshire, eligible residents with a Disabled Person’s Bus Pass can apply for a Companion Bus Pass, which allows someone to travel with them free of charge.
What Is a Companion Bus Pass?
A Companion Bus Pass lets a named companion travel free of charge only when accompanying the pass-holder. It’s designed for people who:
Cannot travel alone due to their disability
Need help boarding, navigating, or staying safe during the journey

Who Can Apply?
To apply for a Companion Pass, the main applicant must:
Be eligible for a Disabled Person’s Bus Pass
Provide evidence that they cannot travel alone due to their disability

Proof of disability and need for a companion (e.g. medical evidence, EHCP, support letters)
Proof of identity and address
A passport-style photo
