Hoople – Post-16 Study Opportunities for Students with SEND

Hoople Education offers a Study Programme for young people aged 16–25 who have an Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP). This programme is designed to support students who may find large mainstream settings challenging, and who benefit from small-group learning, personalised timetables, and a nurturing environment.

What’s on Offer

  • Small Group Learning
Students learn in small groups with a dedicated tutor who helps set personal goals and supports progress.

  • Flexible Attendance
Some students attend 3–4 days per week, with a mix of centre-based learning and work placements.

  • Work Experience & Enrichment
Opportunities to gain real-world experience and take part in enrichment activities that build confidence and independence.

  • Supportive Environment
Designed for students who need a more tailored and calm setting to thrive.

Hoople Training Courses

Hoople also offers training courses (some fully funded) in areas such as:

  • Health & Social Care

  • First Aid & Wellbeing

  • Health & Safety

  • Food Safety

  • Personal Development

  • IT / Digital Skills

These courses can help young people with SEND build employment skills, confidence, and independence.

What Families Should Check or Ask About

When considering Hoople for your child, it’s helpful to ask:

  • What level of individual support is provided?

  • How are course materials adapted for different needs?

  • What work experience or community-based opportunities are available?

  • How many days per week is attendance expected?

  • Is transport support available?

 Useful Questions to Ask

  • “Is there a SEND or Learning Support Coordinator I can speak to?”

  • “How will you assess and meet my child’s support needs?”

  • “What is the staff-to-student ratio in the Study Programme?”

  • “What life skills and independence training are included?”

  • “Do you offer travel training or support with transport?”
