Hope Support Services – Emotional Support for Young People Facing Family Illness
Hope Support Services is a Herefordshire-based charity that supports young people aged 5–25 who have a close family member (such as a parent or sibling) diagnosed with a serious or life-threatening illness. Founded in 2009, Hope offers emotional, peer, and activity-based support to help young people cope during difficult times.

What Support Hope Offers

One-to-one support | Confidential chats via online messaging, email, video, or audio, a safe space to share feelings and ask questions |
Peer & group support | Youth sessions and social groups to meet others in similar situations, reduce isolation, and build understanding |
Activities & trips | In-person workshops, outings, and “Hope on the Road” trips across Herefordshire |
Online community | “We Are Hope” peer group with safe online spaces to connect and share |
Support via the hospice | Regular sessions, age-based clubs, and one-to-one support in partnership with St Michael’s Hospice in Hereford |

How to Access Hope
Self-referral: Young people or their parents/carers can contact Hope directly
Professional referral: Schools, GPs, or health professionals can also refer a young person
