Our Place – Short Breaks for Children & Young People with SEND
Our Place Short Breaks is a specialist service for children and young people aged approximately 8–18 (some sessions specifically for ages 10–18) who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including autism, learning disabilities, and associated behaviours. All children attending must have an Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP).
Where, When & What Happens
Located in the Worcestershire countryside (Bransford), the setting is homely and nurturing, with indoor spaces and outdoor areas including fields and forest school.
Operates during school holidays (Monday–Friday, full days ~6.25 hours) and alternate Saturday mornings during term time.
Activities are tailored to each child’s EHCP and include:
Fun, creative, and physical activities
Life skills and independence-building
Peer interaction and confidence development
Trying new experiences in a safe, supported environment
Support Methods
Staffing ratios are based on individual needs and risk assessments.
Communication support includes AAC, PECS, Makaton, symbols/photos, and social/sensory stories.
The environment is designed to meet sensory and physical needs, with adaptable indoor spaces and calming outdoor areas.
