Vaccination Team

The Herefordshire Vaccination Team delivers routine school‑aged immunisations across the county, helping to protect children and young people from preventable illnesses. They work in schools, special schools, and community clinics to ensure every child, including those with SEND, can access the vaccinations they need.
 

Who Provides the Service?

School‑aged vaccinations in Herefordshire are delivered by Vaccination UK, an organisation commissioned by NHS England since 2015 to provide childhood immunisation programmes across multiple regions, including Herefordshire & Worcestershire.
 

Their qualified healthcare professionals work in partnership with schools and local health teams to ensure children receive safe, high‑quality vaccination services.

What the Vaccination Team Does

School‑Based Immunisation Sessions

The team visits schools across Herefordshire to deliver routine immunisations such as:

• Flu vaccinations
• HPV vaccinations
• Teenage booster vaccines (e.g., DTP, MenACWY)

Vaccinations are carried out during the school day in a calm, supportive environment, especially important for pupils with additional needs.

Catch‑Up Vaccination Clinics

If a child misses their vaccination at school, families can attend dedicated catch‑up clinics held locally. For Herefordshire, these clinics run on:

• Tuesdays and Wednesdays (term‑time only)

These are drop‑in clinics, but appointments can also be booked if preferred.

Support for Children with SEND
